Being asked to umpire several times a year is part of being a player. The Club will provide you with training/mentoring, but when given an umpiring allocation, it is your responsibility to see that it is done.

Umpiring is also a good way for younger players to improve their hockey skills and knowledge, as well as make a few dollars with senior games typically paying $50 per game for umpires.

Through the HockeyEd website Hockey Australia provides a free program for individuals to become accredited Community Umpires.  Register on HockeyEd and you will have access to a hockey specific online training program:
